Day Base is published by Ryan McMillen, doing business as Day Base Labs, located in Chicago, Illinois. This Privacy Policy explains how Day Base (the "App," "Day Base," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the App or contact us.
Our privacy approach is simple: Day Base is designed so that your app content stays under your control. We do not operate servers for your Day Base content, and we do not receive, store, sell, or access the collections, records, notes, photos, or custom fields you create in the App.
I. The Short Version
- Your Day Base content is yours. Your collections, custom fields, records, notes, and photos are stored on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account through Apple's CloudKit service.
- We do not have servers for your app content. We do not receive, host, store, read, retrieve, or back up the content you create in Day Base.
- We do not sell personal information. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information for advertising or data-broker purposes.
- No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Day Base does not include third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or cross-app tracking technologies.
- Apple services may apply. iCloud, CloudKit, Sign in with Apple, App Store analytics, crash reporting, and other Apple services are provided by Apple and are governed by Apple's own privacy terms and your Apple account settings.
II. Scope of this Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the Day Base App and to communications you send directly to Day Base Labs, such as support emails.
This Privacy Policy does not govern Apple's services, including iCloud, CloudKit, Sign in with Apple, the App Store, iOS, iPadOS, or any device-level features you choose to use. Those services are provided by Apple and are governed by Apple's privacy policy, terms, and your Apple ID settings.
III. Information You Create in Day Base
Day Base lets you create and organize information such as collections, fields, records, notes, and images. This is your App Content.
Your App Content is stored:
- On your device, in the App's local storage; and
- In your private iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit, if you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud sync is enabled for the App.
Day Base Labs does not operate a server that receives or stores your App Content. We cannot view, search, retrieve, export, restore, moderate, or delete your App Content for you. Access to App Content is controlled by your device, your Apple ID, your iCloud settings, and Apple's security systems.
IV. iCloud and CloudKit Sync
If iCloud sync is available and enabled, Day Base uses Apple's CloudKit technology to sync your App Content across your Apple devices. CloudKit is provided by Apple, not Day Base Labs.
When your App Content is stored or synced through iCloud:
- It is associated with your Apple ID and iCloud account, not with a Day Base Labs account.
- It is subject to Apple's privacy policy, iCloud terms, security practices, and your Apple account settings.
- Day Base Labs does not receive copies of that content and does not have administrative access to your private iCloud database.
You can manage iCloud settings through your Apple device settings.
V. Sign in with Apple
Day Base may offer an optional Sign in with Apple gate. If you choose to use Sign in with Apple, Apple handles the authentication process.
The App may receive a Sign in with Apple identifier and, if you choose to share it during the first sign-in flow, your name. Day Base uses this information locally on your device to recognize you and help unlock or associate your local App experience. Because Day Base Labs does not operate authentication servers for the App, this information is not transmitted to, hosted by, or stored by Day Base Labs.
You may also choose to continue without signing in, if that option is available in the App. In that case, Day Base does not create a Sign in with Apple identifier for your use of the App.
VI. Information You Send to Us Directly
If you contact Day Base Labs by email or another support channel, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, name, message content, screenshots, device information, or other details you include in your request.
We use support communications only to:
- Respond to your questions or requests;
- Troubleshoot issues;
- Improve the App, where appropriate; and
- Maintain business records related to support and developer operations.
Please do not send sensitive information or private App Content in a support request unless you are comfortable sharing that information with us. If you choose to send us App Content, screenshots, or other information, we will handle it for support purposes, but it will no longer be information that remains solely on your device or in your iCloud account.
VII. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
Day Base does not include third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, advertising networks, or cross-app tracking technologies. We do not build user profiles, serve behaviorally targeted ads, or track you across apps or websites.
Apple may provide Day Base Labs with aggregated or diagnostic information through standard Apple developer tools, such as App Store Connect, TestFlight, or crash reporting. Examples may include total downloads, general app usage metrics, crash logs, device type, operating system version, country or region, or other aggregated or diagnostic information.
This Apple-provided information is controlled by Apple, is generally aggregated or diagnostic in nature, and does not include the App Content you create in Day Base.
VIII. How Information Is Shared
Day Base Labs does not sell, rent, trade, or share your App Content because we do not collect or receive it.
Your information may be shared only in the following limited situations:
- At your direction. For example, if you use iOS or iPadOS features such as the Share Sheet, Shortcuts, export functions, screenshots, AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or other device-level sharing features.
- Through Apple services. For example, if you use iCloud, CloudKit, Sign in with Apple, App Store services, or device backup features.
- Support communications. If you email us, we may use service providers necessary to receive, store, or respond to that communication, such as an email provider.
- Legal compliance. If we receive a valid legal request, we may disclose the limited information we actually possess, such as support emails. Because we do not possess your App Content, we cannot disclose App Content that we do not have.
- Business transfer. If Day Base Labs is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, the limited information we possess may be transferred as part of that transaction. App Content stored only on your device or in your private iCloud account would not be transferred by us because we do not possess it.
IX. Data Retention and Deletion
Because Day Base Labs does not receive or store your App Content, we do not retain it and cannot delete it on your behalf.
You can control your App Content by:
- Editing or deleting records, collections, fields, notes, and images within the App;
- Deleting the App from your device to remove local App data, subject to your device and iCloud settings;
- Managing or deleting iCloud data through your Apple ID settings; and
- Reviewing your device backup and iCloud backup settings.
Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain business records, improve the App, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You may contact us to request deletion of support communications, and we will comply where reasonably practicable and legally permitted.
X. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights under applicable law, such as rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or information about certain data practices.
Day Base Labs has very limited information because we do not collect or store your App Content. If you make a privacy request, we can only respond with respect to information we actually possess, such as support communications you sent to us. We cannot access, export, correct, or delete App Content stored on your device or in your private iCloud account.
To exercise any applicable privacy rights, contact us at daybaselabs@outlook.com. We may need to verify your request before responding.
XI. California Privacy Notice
If you are a California resident, this section provides additional information under California privacy laws.
Day Base Labs does not sell or share personal information as those terms are commonly used for cross-context behavioral advertising. Day Base does not use third-party advertising SDKs or tracking technologies.
The categories of information Day Base Labs may receive are limited and generally include:
- Support communications
- Examples: email address, name, message content, screenshots, or details you choose to send
- Source: you
- Purpose: responding to support requests and maintaining business records
- Apple-provided developer information
- Examples: Aggregated App Store metrics, crash reports, device or operating system diagnostics
- Source: Apple
- Purpose: App performance, troubleshooting, and developer operations
Day Base Labs does not receive the content you create in the App, including your collections, records, fields, notes, or photos, unless you choose to send that content to us directly, such as in a support email.
XII. Children's Privacy
Day Base is not directed to children under 13 or to children under the minimum age required in their jurisdiction. Day Base Labs does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because Day Base Labs does not receive App Content, we do not knowingly collect information from any user's App Content, whether the user is a child or an adult. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, such as through a support email, contact us at daybaselabs@outlook.com and we will take appropriate steps.
XIII. Security
Day Base is designed to minimize the information Day Base Labs receives. Your App Content is stored on your device and, if enabled, in your iCloud account. Security for that content depends on your device security, Apple ID security, iCloud settings, device backups, and Apple's security practices.
We encourage you to:
- Use a strong device passcode;
- Protect your Apple ID with strong credentials and two-factor authentication;
- Keep your device operating system and the App updated; and
- Review your iCloud, backup, and sharing settings.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but Day Base reduces privacy risk by avoiding developer-operated servers for your App Content.
XIV. International Users
Day Base Labs is located in Chicago, Illinois, United States. If you contact us directly, your communication may be processed in the United States or wherever our communication service providers operate. Apple services, including iCloud and CloudKit, are provided by Apple and may involve processing in locations described in Apple's privacy terms.
XV. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and post the revised policy in the App, on our website, or through another appropriate channel.
If we make material changes to how Day Base handles information, we will provide notice in a manner appropriate to the change before or when the change takes effect.
